What is a building survey?

A house survey, also known as a building survey, is a thorough inspection and assessment of a property's condition, structure, and overall state. A building survey should be carried out by a Building Surveyor who is Chartered and Registered with the Society of Chartered Surveyors Ireland (SCSI).

The primary purpose of a house survey is to provide potential buyers or property owners with detailed information about the condition of the property they are interested in. This information helps them make informed decisions about purchasing, renovating, or maintaining the property.

ODP conducts pre-purchase surveys in Dublin and the surrounding counties. We are Registered and Chartered Building Surveyors who specialise in building inspections, so you can trust that we will conduct thorough inspections to help you make informed decisions when purchasing a house.

How much does a survey cost?

The cost of a home survey will depend on the property’s value, its size, condition, location and the level of detail required by the survey. As a guide, our prices start at €500 (incl. VAT) for an apartment and €600 (incl. VAT) for a house. Every property is different, so please contact us to discuss your purchasing plans.
